“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,”‭

‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

Be a servant of Christ

A Call to True Servanthood: Standing for Christ Against the Spirit of the Age

To be a servant of Christ is not a half-hearted commitment — it is a declaration of loyalty to the King of kings in a world that hates His authority. Scripture says, “You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Servants of Christ belong entirely to Him, and our task is to uphold His Word even when the culture mocks, resists, or threatens us.

Jesus warned, “No one can serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24). Today, many try to serve Christ and the culture at the same time. They twist the Scriptures to fit the world’s approval, bowing to ideologies that deny God’s truth. But a true servant cannot compromise. God’s Word is not optional, outdated, or negotiable. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

Our age celebrates rebellion against the Creator. Marriage, defined by God as the covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6), is being desecrated and replaced with counterfeit unions. Gender, given by God as male and female (Genesis 1:27), is being denied, as people claim the right to create their own identities. The unborn, whom God calls precious children (Psalm 139:13–16), are being slaughtered in the name of “choice.” Family order, established by God with the husband as head and the wife as helper (Ephesians 5:22–25), is being ridiculed and replaced by the chaos of so-called “progress.”

This is not simply cultural drift — it is spiritual war. Paul tells us, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness” (Ephesians 6:12). The ideologies of woke culture are not neutral; they are weapons of the enemy, meant to silence the truth and destroy God’s design. A servant of Christ must see this clearly and refuse to bow.

Now is the time for courage. Paul charged Timothy, “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort” (2 Timothy 4:2). That charge belongs to every believer. We cannot remain silent while lies are exalted above truth. We must open our mouths and declare, “Thus says the Lord.” This will bring opposition. Scripture promises, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Timothy 3:12). But persecution is not defeat — it is the mark of faithfulness.

Servants of Christ must hold the line. We are called to expose the darkness, not accommodate it. “Have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). This means speaking clearly against abortion, rejecting the lies of gender ideology, defending God’s design for the family, and refusing to celebrate sin even when pressured by schools, workplaces, or governments.

This is not a call to hatred — it is a call to truth spoken in love. The world needs the gospel, and only servants who are loyal to Christ can carry it faithfully. The culture promises freedom but delivers slavery. Christ alone sets people free: “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36). To be a servant of Christ is to carry His message of salvation, unaltered and unashamed.

One day, every servant will stand before the Master. Compromise will be exposed, and loyalty will be rewarded. May we live so as to hear the words of Jesus: “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). Let us not shrink back, but rise up in boldness, knowing that we serve the risen King who has already conquered sin, death, and the world.

Now is the time to stand. Now is the time to serve.
