In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. We start here because to understand the war we see today, we must first understand how God created and designed all things. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” From the very beginning, God established His divine order—He created mankind as male and female, both made in His image, with the purpose of being fruitful and multiplying as Genesis 1:28 commands.
But what happened? Why is there now a war between mankind and God’s created order? In Genesis 2:16–17, the Lord commanded Adam, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Adam was given freedom within obedience, yet he chose rebellion. Genesis 3:6 tells us, “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.”
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered the world. Humanity fell from its original state of holiness, and death—both physical and spiritual—became our reality. Because of this fall, our hearts became sinful, and we now naturally rebel against God’s design. We don’t just disobey Him—we take pleasure in doing so. This rebellion has continued through every generation, and today we see it openly warring against God’s created order of male and female, life and marriage, truth and righteousness.
The Apostle Paul describes this judgment clearly in Romans 1:24–32: “Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” Paul goes on to say that both men and women abandoned natural relations for those contrary to nature, and that God gave them over to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They became filled with all manner of unrighteousness, envy, murder, deceit, and malice. Even though they knew God’s righteous decree, they not only practiced such things but also approved of those who did them.
Humanity has rejected God’s truth, exchanged His design for a lie, and now celebrates the very things that grieve His heart. The war against God’s created order is not merely cultural—it is spiritual. And only through repentance and faith in Christ can hearts be restored and brought back into alignment with God’s perfect design.
This rebellion is clearly seen in how our culture treats sex and identity. Scripture teaches that God designed marriage and sexual intimacy to exist only between one man and one woman within the covenant of marriage (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6). When people step outside that design—whether through adultery, fornication, or same-sex relations—they reject God’s authority over their bodies. The issue is not just the outward act, but the inward heart that declares, “My will, not Yours, be done.” Every distortion of God’s design is a symptom of humanity’s deeper rebellion against Him.
Yet the gospel does not leave anyone without hope. Paul writes, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11). Christ came to save sinners of every kind. His grace reaches those caught in sexual sin, pride, greed, anger—every form of rebellion. He calls all people to repent, to turn from sin, and to find new life and identity in Him. The war against God’s design will not be won through arguments or politics, but through hearts transformed by the power of the gospel.
